About Our Team
At True Thai Massage & Spa, we’ve practiced the art of Thai massage for many years and are well-versed in the techniques and benefits it provides. Thai massage also incorporates muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure for a well-rounded treatment.
Our skilled therapists use their hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you through a variety of stretches. A variety of massage stretch poses are used, including the bridge, back press, king cobra, shoulder stand, plough, and half locust, among others.
While Thai massage is our specialty, our therapists are highly skilled in a variety of massage packages:
- Thai Massage: A strong full-body massage with stretching and pressure applied along energy channels
- Fusion: A balance of a healthy deep tissue massage and a relaxing oil massage for well-rounded benefits
- Relaxation: A heated, full-body massage combined with essential aroma oils to promote rest
- Remedial: A specialized massage treatment with a remedial qualified therapist that can target specific problems such as sports injuries and poor sleeping habits

Traditional Thai Massage Practice
The practice of Thai massage dates back for millennia, but with its emotional and physical healing properties, it is widely accepted in Thailand's medical system. There are differences in certain practices associated with this method when performed in the Western and Thai contexts.
Unlike Western massages, Thai methods don't use oils or lotions. However, many of the components have remained in the non-Western context. For example, during Thai massage, there is constant bodily contact between the giver and client, rather than simply rubbing of muscles. The body is compressed, pulled, stretched, and rocked. The concept of metta or loving kindness, based on Buddhist teachings, is an integral part of this practice.
Clients may wear loose, comfortable clothing while lying on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. In Thailand, a dozen or more clients may receive massages simultaneously in one room. However, traditionally, this is a solo art with the giver and client. The client will be positioned in a variety of poses during the massage, consisting of deep static and rhythmic pressures.
The massage generally follows designated lines or sen in the body. The legs and feet of the giver can be used to position the body or limbs of the client. In other positions, hands fix the body while the feet do the massaging. A full session may last two hours and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the body. This may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking knuckles, walking on the client's back, palm-press, thumb-press, fingers-press, and forearm-press in many different positions. There is a standard procedure and rhythm, which the giver will adjust to fit the client.
